Teenage Acne. Just at the time when teenagers become interested in the opposite sex, zits happen! Nothing can seem worse for the self-esteem of a young adult than the appearance of pimples, ranging in intensity from an occasional pimple or two to full-blown acne.
The fix can be quite simple. If the teenager takes mega doses of vitamin C complex daily, the results are dramatic. Even acne that has started to leave scars in its wake can be completely reversed.
The vitamin C complex -- a high-quality form of vitamin C along with all of the bioflavinoids -- should be taken to "bowel tolerance." Start with 2 grams (2,000 milligrams) of vitamin C complex in the morning. Take an additional gram or two every two hours until a loose stool signals that the body has reached its limit. Back off by one gram and repeat that dosage daily. For instance, if your teen can tolerate ten grams on the first day before hurrying to the bathroom, she should take nine grams every day thereafter, spread throughout the day. If her tolerance drops over subsequent days, reduce the vitamin C complex intake by another gram until a maintenance dose is discovered. THIS WILL BE THE TEEN'S DAILY DOSE TO STAY ACNE-FREE!
In my practice, I have tested numerous children (and adults) who do not have regular bowel movements. This is extremely unhealthy. And regrettably, most mothers do not question their children about their bowel regularity and habits. The vitamin C complex takes care of two problems: bowel regularity and the presence of acne, which I believe is a by-product of a sluggish bowel, coupled with a surge of hormonal activity.
Save yourself and your teens a trip to the dermatologist and an unnecessary prescription for tetracycline with a healthy -- and more effective -- alternative.
Note: Cheap brands of vitamin C are frequently manufactured in China and are contaminated. Do not sacrifice quality for cost. Check out LEF.org for their brand.
